Weekend finds...

It was another hot and steamy weekend in NYC, but that was not enough to stop this dedicated shopper from hitting the streets and specifically the Steven Alan flagship store in Tribeca. I love love love this store - it is a great mix of casual, fun, girly and edgy. Best of all Steven started as a menswear designer and stocks a good amount of mens clothing in the back so guys will not be bored if you drag them along.

I must go back soon for one of these beach blankets. They come in an array of colors and would be perfect for a day in the park or plopping down on at an outdoor concert. They are also a fabulous idea for a gift, one bride-to-be was scooping up a bunch for her bridesmaids gifts...how chic!
With a Hawaiian vacation quickly approaching I am on the hunt for some cute bathing suits. Luckily, I had come to the right place as there were a ton of options. I zeroed in on the Petit Bateau bikinis. They are a great price at $60 and come in a very cute little plastic tote!
The scallop detail around the edges adds to an otherwise basic suit...

A little something for the guys - it would not be a just Steven Alan post without some plaid...

Last but not least the Keds and Steven Alan collaboration incorporates one of my faves - ikat - with a classic shoe...

Happy shopping!

J.Crew does basics right on Net-a-porter

I was doing some browsing of my favorite online retailers and am loving the J.Crew basics that they exclusively produced for Net-a-porter. So bummed that I did not purchase this chambray bikini last week, but I will keep it in mind should my other J.Crew suit not work out.
I think these t-shirts are definite must-haves, they look absolutely delectable!
Another J.Crew collaboration done right. I expect good things to come as this partnership grows...possibly expansion of the J.Crew Collection line? It seems like an obvious fit to me!

Dive in!

Honestly, the only thing I really hate shopping for is swimwear! But as summer is quickly approaching I am on a serious hunt for a couple swimsuits to get me thru the season. It can be very tricky shopping for swimwear- you need something cute, comfy and good for both tanning and being active in the sun. My trick in the past has been to buy 1 solid and 1 printed suit that can be mixed and matched. This creates the illusion that you have 4 suits so if you go on vacation you don't have to wear the same suit every day.

Great solid options in my two go-to styles: triangle top and bandeau.

Spice it up with printed options, I usually trend towards animal prints or modern florals.

Two great cheap suits from American Eagle that happen to be in keeping with the stripe craze.

Personally I don't do one pieces, but if I were to sport one it would be something like one of these. If you're going to cover up, keep it interesting.
