Delish dish

I had an amazing meal this weekend at relatively new NYC eatery, Pulino's. Immediately upon entering you know from the decor that you are in the family of esteemed McNally restaurants: Balthazar, Pastis, Schillers... The bar is breathtaking and liquor bottles cover the walls in a towering sea of mirror-backed shelves. There is also a huge wood fired oven that keeps the environment rustic and inviting. My friend and I sat at the bar as we waited for a table to open up and enjoyed some great cocktails (they have a fun and inventive list!) I would highly recommend the limoncello sparkler: prosecco, limoncello, mint and a hint of tangerine. Refreshing and delish! They also have a great wine offering for those interested in carafes and saving a buck- you can choose light, medium or heavy bodied in both red and white. We ordered a light red and I thought it was very tasty and complimented the food greatly (bonus $18!). Now on to the important part, the food. It did not disappoint! We split the burata appetizer that was served with roasted beets and converted me into a true beet believer. The roasted chicken gnocchi was really interesting - although the sauce was so good they could have held the gnocchi and made the rich tomato sauce and shredded chicken a dish in its own right. Of course, we had to order a pizza and after much debate settled on the anchovy which was seasoned with garlic, basil and black olives. Our neighbor was eating the sausage and broccoli rabe pizza and we did a little taste test with them, his had a bite to it but was very light and satisfying. The only thing needed to top this meal off was another limoncello sparkler and bed to sleep off my food coma. Check out Pulino's soon - great vibe, great crowd and great eats.
