Falling for J.Crew Fall

While I am usually someone who dreads the end of summer, these images from the J.Crew Fall catalogue have me yearning for a cool breeze and ultra-chic layering! Aptly naming it their Fall uniform - the color scheme matches the dusty desert scenery: khakis, taupe and a cool evergreen.

I am already a Minnie pant devotee and can't wait to get my hands on the new Fall version and that herringbone workshirt!

The poplin shirt and sequin skirt look like must-have staples for the season.

For the boys...

Love this image of their bridal selection - she looks like one of the hippest brides I have ever seen...

DVF goes to Claridge's

DVF and Claridge's Hotel in London recently unveiled two of the suites that will be part of a 20 room collection by the legendary designer.  In true DVF form there are many swoon worthy pieces, most of which are upholstered in iconic DVF prints and stunning colors. While most people staying at Claridge's are on vacation, they are sure to feel right at home in these delectable digs. DVF's first foray into interiors is proving to be a success (not that we would expect any less)!

DVF in one of her suites at Claridge's.

The ikat couch in contrasting purples and a neutral zebra rug look meant for each other!
I am a sucker for all things black and white - always effortlessly chic...

may never leave with a closet like the above to call my own (outfitted with DVF shoe boxes, of course).

This bed is insane! The double headboard is beyond and I love the use of geometric print throughout with a touch of leopard on the floor.

What better way to cap off your stay than with a custom DVF wrap robe...

Mintbox

There is a new fashion insider on the scene ready to give you access to the best sales, designers and retailers.  Best of all you will also receive cash back rewards! Once you join you will be asked to link Mintbox to your credit card so that your "insider status" travels with you wherever you shop (there is no fee to join, this simply acts as your membership card). Unlike Gilt Groupe and Ruelala, Mintbox sends you a code you can use directly at a retailer's store (no more guessing on sizes!) or website to receive a discount and minimum 5% cash back. Use your Mintbox registered credit card on any purchases and you will see the cash rewards add up. Take a look today, from Sur la Table to La Perla and Converse there is a little something for everyone.

If you can't wait for Mintbox to send you your own invitation code, try OTTEMB (NY area readers - this code will also give you $10 off your next purchase at Otte). Happy shopping!

To The Tens hearts Jenna Lyons

Jenna Lyons, creative director at J.Crew and all-around genius was named the President of J.Crew yesterday (not to fear she will also remain Creative Director). Fashionista posted a list of the 5 reasons Jenna is where she is today that you should check out if you have a chance.

Her Brooklyn townhouse was featured in Living etc. (see my earlier post if you haven't already!) and is pretty awesome...

Living etc.

I stumbled upon Living etc. yesterday and immediately developed a new magazine crush. While I would not normally describe myself as someone who likes "modern" design I am loving the online features of this London based mag and will be picking up a hard copy asap! The mag launched in 1998 and livingetc.com followed in 2005. They have a large gallery of images and a very active online community where you can find tips, ask questions and follow a blog by the mag's editor. I highly recommend you check it out next time you are surfing the net. Some of my picks from their August issue gallery are below:

*Great mix of pattern and color

Great rug, wall coverings and pillows tie this nook together.

What little girl wouldn't want to curl up here!

I am a sucker for library ladders and bookcase walls...
*All images are of a Melbourne warehouse by Diane Bergeron

*Love the simplicity and clean lines in this London apartment

*Fun pops of turquoise in a LA kitchen

Weekend finds...

It was another hot and steamy weekend in NYC, but that was not enough to stop this dedicated shopper from hitting the streets and specifically the Steven Alan flagship store in Tribeca. I love love love this store - it is a great mix of casual, fun, girly and edgy. Best of all Steven started as a menswear designer and stocks a good amount of mens clothing in the back so guys will not be bored if you drag them along.

I must go back soon for one of these beach blankets. They come in an array of colors and would be perfect for a day in the park or plopping down on at an outdoor concert. They are also a fabulous idea for a gift, one bride-to-be was scooping up a bunch for her bridesmaids gifts...how chic!
With a Hawaiian vacation quickly approaching I am on the hunt for some cute bathing suits. Luckily, I had come to the right place as there were a ton of options. I zeroed in on the Petit Bateau bikinis. They are a great price at $60 and come in a very cute little plastic tote!
The scallop detail around the edges adds to an otherwise basic suit...

A little something for the guys - it would not be a just Steven Alan post without some plaid...

Last but not least the Keds and Steven Alan collaboration incorporates one of my faves - ikat - with a classic shoe...

Happy shopping!

Print overload...

After a week in LA and visits to fabric outlets and home decor stores I am seeing prints everywhere...

When I popped into the Jonathan Adler I fell in love at first sight with the Aegean Sea print - it looks great on their x bench and would look even better in my apartment!

I was very excited for my first trip into Hollywood at Home and felt right home in their cozy interiors. They have some great finds and a fabulous array of fabrics. My favorite piece was this super funky chair.  It would be a great addition to a sun porch and the perfect place to plop down for a cocktail as the sun sets.

My shower curtain is begging to be retired, but I hadn't seen anything that excited me enough to take it's place until I stumbled into Roberta Roller Rabbit. One of their fun and bright prints is exactly what my tiny bathroom needs to liven it up. I'm leaning towards one of the large poppies...

I have been on the hunt for new throw pillows and saw some great ikat and suzani fabrics, but couldn't make up my mind in time to pull the trigger. Luckily, Etsy has a great selection of throw pillows at great prices!
